Wishing Upon An Eyelash
I made my first grown-up wish today.
Have you ever wished upon a star? Well not only have I wished upon a star, but also upon an eyelash, and while blowing out the lights on my birthday cakes. I guess these little wishing moments differ between cultures but I do honor the ones I know. Ever since I was a kid I have made a wish at every opportunity I have gotten.
All through my life I have made starry-eyed childish wishes. When I am feeling the least selfish I wish for world peace and then are all the variations of wishing to live happily ever after or that a special someone at that point in my life will love me forever. Then I have of course always honored the golden rule to never tell anybody about my wish, since then it will most definitely not come true...
Today after work I noticed that an eyelash had fallen off and was sitting lonely on my cheek. I clumpsily tried to nudge it off while pondering over all my worldy problems. I then remembered that of course I had to make a wish. I was tired, caught up in my worries, and battling the eyelash that didn't feel like venturing into the world. My wish ended up sounding something like the following: "Oh, what the fuck, screw eternal love and happiness, I want money. Then there is at least one thing less to worry about".
A little later it struck me that I had never used any of my special wish moments to wish for something so tangible and boring. Money!?!? I had always wished for something ideal and so unrealistic. I guess I am a grown-up now when it comes to making wishes... Or maybe I need to stop making wishes before I am truly a grown-up in this area:-).
What about you guys? Do you still make wishes and at which occasions? And are your wishes grown-up or still in the childish fantasy world like I used to nbe until today?

wishing
I like Peter's comment and have to admit that is often the way I make my wishes. I'll wish for something so then I need to go out and try to fullfill that wish in myself. Of course there is also the occasional wish to win tattslotto or the Boystown lottery (BigBbeautiful House), which I guess would be my adult wishes. Hmmm, I wish I lived in a castle.

Silly!
So I guess I am the only one that is silly... Oh, well we already knew that:-).
Wishes
I wish for things all the time, more in the form of daydreaming, and usually thinking about stuff like "what would I do if I won $1000000 in the lottery"... But I guess it depends on how you define wishing, I also agree with Peter that having modest wishes can be a way of knowing what you want from your life, and then realise that you're the only one who can make it happen and do something about it. Wishing for things that are hard or impossible to make come true, is IMO just another word for having dreams - and dreams can be good as long as one realizes that they're just dreams and will most likely not happen any day soon... Having unrealistic dreams, hoping that they will come true just out of the blue (hey, I'm a poet and I didn't know it), will only lead to disappointment...

Wishes=Goals
As many of you seemed to agree on wishes can almost be seen as our goals. I have however never used my silly wishing moments to define my goals or dreams. I have almost always wished for something completely unrealistic that I know will never happen. I guess in a way I know these wishes wont come true so in case a once in a lifetime instance happens I better make the wish good. Something that I will never be able to accomplish by just working hard at it (such as world peace, etneral happiness etc.). As for goals or dreams. Well most of the time I try to go more actively after that.

Mistress
It seems like at least one of them has come true for you...

Wishing...
I always felt that wishing is a bit silly, since who is suppost to make them come true? God, Santa? Well I dont belive in those things, so there is no point in wishing for anything. I don't pray or sacrifice large mamals either. By the way I don't think you are suppost to tell people what you wished for or it will not happen.

Make it so
Well, making a wish can be a good way to figure out what you really want to happen in your life, and then "all" you have to do is try to fulfil the wish yourself. Of course, this might not work very well if you always wish for world peace, but it can work if you have more modest wishes.
