Crazy Hip Movements
The latest craze here in Norway is a new artist called Mira Craig. It is quite interesting to watch an artist with as questionable music talents as she has get that well known.
First time I heard about her was when she did a stage dive into a non existing audience and broke her knee when she landed on the floor. I didn't see the video of that until much later and was more shocked by her music than her infamous stage dive.
Then she started appearing on TV and to be fair to her she is quite sexy and charming. Her first video (to what is probably her "best" song) is nothing less than fascinating. The only thing I could think of while watching the video was how much it reminded me of cavemen and more specifically the Clan of the Cave Bear movie". To make it more dramatic it was filmed in raw Icelandic nature and mainly features Mira Craig in almost non exciting clothes jumping around doing pretty extreme hip movements and singing something that sounds like "Cause baby boo boo.." in a dark voice.
Seeing her get this famous has been a bit puzzling but I guessed it was because she was good looking and lively. I think I understood a bit more yesterday why this is catching on this quickly. I ended up on the dance floor with bunch of girls that were desperately trying to imitate Mira Craig's crazy hip movements. It must have been quite amusing watching us dancing. I at least suspect that Pinocchio would have fit right in there. In other words, it didn't quite come naturally to any of us but it was really fun.
In any case, I predict this craze will continue a little bit longer. It is also likely that with lots of girl practicing that in the springs Norwegian clubs will be filled with lightly dressed girls shaking their ass in all direction...

Freeze! Nobody moves!
The best part of the stage dive must be her two dancers, who stand absolutely still for several seconds, just like they're supposed to at the end of the song, not breaking character even if their main artist just writhed in pain below the stage. :-D :-D
Regarding the video, I thought of the Aboriginee people that Crocodile Dundee and the US reporter gets to visit. Perhaps part of the dance is inspired by some tribal dances too? I wonder if Mira is that much freckled over her eyes and forehead, or if it was due to make-up in some of the scenes? It reminds me of Pippi Longstocking.
I suppose this is the kind of artist that in two years, only a few will remember and in five years, some clever guy will make a documentary on TV: "What happened with N.N.". Sure, she's shaking her hips and wears little clothes, but then again, almost all girls trying to get a head start into music career and/or scandal beauties take this approach. Even the ones who already are well established keep on with the scheme, perhaps afraid of being kicked out from the industry if they don't.
By the way, the music style in the video and the style in her stage performance doesn't quite match. Maybe she's more versatile than I would expect, but neither style is something that attracts me.

Hip movements
Well Norway is not a bad place to visit. Just don't hold me responsible if Norwegian hips don't quite get the hang of those hip movements:-).
Carlson, yes that is true that those stage performers look slightly silly just standing there after she is squirming on the floor:-). Those freckles aren't real.. I think but yes you are right it was almost like Pippi. Just a slightly more x-rated Pippi. I can't quite manage to like those songs of hers. They are just too weird. You are probably right that she will disappear quickly after the first coolness wears off or she gets arthritis and can't shake those hips any more:-).

I had a second thought on what appears to be freckles - I think it is poor video compression? Or has anyone seen the video in higher quality to determine if freckles actually exist in those few shoots? Sure they can put on make-up like that, but it ain't cute nor makes sense to the video.
On the other hand, if there is someone who thinks Paris Hilton is the perfect actress to picture Mother Theresa in a movie, maybe there is someone willing to award at least one Grammys to this Mira girl too in a short while of time.

No, i have seen the video on TV and she has freckles there. It almost looks like some henna (that they thing put on the arms for Indian weddings) freckles. Not sure what the freckles are for but then again I not the most fashionable person.
Paris Hilton as Mother Theresa... wtf! I would be so offended if I was Mother Theresa. For goodness sake if making a movie like that they have to at least honor the people by getting them a proper actress!
To undress or not undress
It is a Bollywood movie, and Paris was considered due to her high morals.. she hasn't (at the time of writing) undressed in a men's magazine, despite given several offers from Playboy. Now most recently I read that she *had* dropped at least some of the clothes in a German magazine, so maybe her high standards have taken a dive and she'd be less suitable for the role now.
Weird
Hmmm so a homemade sex movie doesn't decrease morals in Bollywood. Very interesting! I just read yesterday that some extremist group in India had attacked a hotel to stop snuggling and prostitutes. Interesting that those two get lumped together but the sex movie is fine:-)
On purpose, for money
Maybe it is the "on purpose for money"-factor of having sex or nudity that differs. If you have a nude photo shoot or even worse, sell sexual services while not being drugged inconscious, it may be bad. The homemade video was supposed to be an internal affair that leaked out - although we don't know how willingly it was leaked.
