Avoing Talk at All Cost
I had heard that Finns are not the most talkative people and I had even experienced that first hand few times. I however didn't realize how bad it was until I took a quick walk downtown. It seems that Finns don't sit facing each other at outdoor restaurants and bars as other nations usually do. They rather sit in rows all facing the street. I guess it helps in avoiding some ackward silences:-).

That's just the way it is
<silly_excuse>We're just passionate when it comes to sunshine - the people in the photo are just maximizing their sun intake</silly_excuse>

Ah that is what it is
I can almost... almost... believe that excuse:-). Hehe!
I need to go back to Helsinki one day. Didn't get to see enough!
But then again,
the first time I visited Helsinki (in 2002), the first thing that happened to me when sitting down on a bench in Esplanadparken was that an retired woman sat down next to me trying to start a conversation. However, me not being able to speak Finnish and her Swedish being restricted to some very basic words, that didn't go very well...
So not all Finns are that bad :-)
And Helsinki is a beatiful city, I was there last week for my vacation.

Nice city yes!
Just saw your blog post that you had been there:-).
Yes, it was a nice city (or at least the little I saw) and at least the people that I met at Assembly were really nice and talkative. Didn't really get to meet the Finnish steriotype there. I hav however met them outside of Finland:-).
