International Taste
Two weekends ago, I went to Bergen to attend Divisha's and Kristian's wedding. Next to the hotel was a slightly puzzling restaurant that advertised that they had take away and the best international taste.
Now, I know what Indian, Mexican, Chinese taste is like but can't quite put my finger on what International taste would be like.

Indian Tikka Masala with Swedish meatballs? Japanese sushi wrapped in Italian pasta, or maybe Mexican tacos with Icelandic rotten shark? I guess International taste gives you endless "delicious" possibilities. I almost regret not trying it...

Red wine to fish
I believe "international" is used when the cuisine is multi-cultural and/or is supposed to be suitable to almost anyone no matter from where you come. That is, no matter if you're a Chinese, a Kenyan, a Mexican, an Icelander, an American, from Iraq or Ukraine, you should find the food most delightful. Since the restaurant in question also has the *best* international taste, it is a sure success and on your next trip to Bergen you absolutely must try the food on this restaurant.
Did I ever mention the group of Chinese visitors who became so thrilled with Norwegian fish that they just about cancelled the booking at the Chinese restaurant where they stayed in Norway? They even asked the poor chef to prepare a fish dish the Norwegian style, which might be difficult if you just about know how to cook Chinese food.
Last week I read about how come (some) Norwegians drink red wine to certain fish dishes, which otherwise would be highly questioned. It origins from when Norway exported dried fish to Catholic countries to eat during Lent. They could not pay in cash, so the fishermen (?) got paid in red wine -- the Catholics wanted to keep the white wine to themselves. Thus the fishermen got a surplus of wine and drank it to fish, and from there the tradition spread.
If they had exported fish to Greek Orthodox, maybe they would've got paid with ouzo...
Red wine mmmmmm....
I do actually get what they are trying to hint at. I have seen many International restaurants before, it was simply how they phrased it as the taste being international that I thought was a bit weird, gave me weird associations in my head:-). Don't think I will ever stay in Bergen long enough to actually try it.
I have never heard that story about Norway, fish and, red wine. Interesting! Never really seen Norwegians drink red wine with fish. I would actually prefer it myself as I like red wine much better than white:-).
Btw. excellent detective work about that restaurant. How in the world did you manage to figure all of that out?
All hail Google!
You shall have no other God than Google (Godgle?), and then your detective search will be a piece of cake.
The Google god
Hehe! But I was trying to escape religion... don't really want to replace the last good with Google:-)
-The Almighty Medium Geek
Priest Carlsson, Nun MediumGeek & A drunken Scotsman
MacLeod, Stornoway's most notorious tippler, making his way unsteadily homeward, encountered the parish priest carlsson & nun Mediumgeek, who inquired about the suspicious bulge in his coat pocket.
"It's holy water, Father," MacLeod protested piously.
Nun Mediumgeek removed the bottle, sniffed at it and announced that it contained whisky.
"Glory be," cried MacLeod. "A miracle!"
haaaahaa
It was interesting to read your findings priest carlsson, thxs.
"Oh Lord, we do not ask you to give us wealth. But show us where it is!"

"Is anything worn under your kilt?"......... "No. Everything is in perfect working order."
Don't spoil the good whiskey
I wonder if the food will acquire a more international taste if it is flambéed?
Me a nun?!?!
Hehe... but do I have to be a nun... sounds so boring:-).
Nun the wiser
Maybe a Naughty Nun? Better to be a nun than to be none.
Sushi & Seafood (try saying that quickly when drunk)
Hi folks
Talking about food:
If you worked here - How would you answer the phone?
Hello again!
Brilliant! That one got me to chuckle. Wonder if that place actually exists:-).
Me again (pffffft what now I hear u cry)
I'm led to believe the place does exist in Clear Lake Texas near NASA but is actually named Fu Kim. Is that name any better?
Sushi and hair care
There used to be a Fu-Kim Sushi Seafood on 1333 West Bay Area Blvd, Webster (Clear Lake, Texas). On the same address today, there is a salon/spa called Beauty Brands. Next to it, on 1353 WBA Blvd, there is/was a Fuji Sushi.
Other Asian restaurants in Clear Lake include China Square and China Star, but neither building looks like the one on the picture. Among the others are Bangkok Place IV in the crossing of Nasa Road and El Camino Real and Miyako sushi bar on 201 West Bay Area Blvd. I could not find pictures of these establishments, so it is impossible to tell if the picture comes from a former restaurant in this area.
Someone also sells t-shirts printed "Fuk Mi, Seafood, Sacramento" but probably it is all a hoax from a manipulated image.
locum anyone?
LOL
Hehe no, that isn't much better:-).
Nah don't think I will
You were watching the same Simpson's episode as I was;-).
I don't know the address. It was downtown not far from the Thon Rosenkrantz hotel. It looked really cheap and ugly so I think I will not try it. If anyone does, please report back:-).
Could be anything
Come on, you really should have tried it!!
Australian restaurants often say international when they don't want to sound poncy and say fusion. Alternatively, there is a good sushi/vietnamese/spanish/sandwich restaurant in Torshavn which might be it. And there is a place in Bristol that does an interesting collection of take-aways (it started out as a fish'n'chip shop, but it's changed a bit).
At least give the address so we can go check for ourselves one day...
