It is almost tidy

I am still alive even if I felt like I would die for a while from over strained muscles and legs covered in bruises. Moving can really take its toll on you, even my toes got tired and stiff:-). I have pretty much
spent the last two weeks moving, cleaning, and getting settled into my new apartment (and in between I have been at work "resting"). I am really happy with my new apartment and I am looking forward to actually enjoying all the new space. Right now life feels a bit like the never-ending-unpacking-and-organizing story but things have almost started to look tidy.

In other news is that I have had a slight change of jobs. I am no longer just working on Series 60 but will also work on the Uiq user interface for the Opera browser. Fun to do something different for a change. I am also now a member of a Norwegian political party and am looking forward to getting a bit more engaged into politics.

So that is the quick update on what is happening in my life these days. Hopefully, I will have more time soon to waste my time on something like silly blogging sitting in my nice new office...

Spare time!?!?

You joined a political party and you are looking for spare time?! What were you thinking?!?!

Well, good luck. Politics is a miserable, rotten, deadly tiring and critically important business...

Here I come to save the day... but where...

Good point about the spare time:-). Good thing then that I cannot figure out how to get involved (they manage to hide that information pretty well).

I guess every person that initially wants to get into politics as these unrealistic dreams that they are gonna change everything and rid the world of miserable rotten politics....:-)

Political career

Let's instead have a competition how long it takes before Mediumgeek is at a reasonably elective position for community council. Young, smart and woman.. something tells me it is the type of upcoming politician most parties want to promote if she wants it herself.

I think aiming for national level (parlament) might be going too far, but who knows what the future holds?

I am also an...

Wouldn't it help that I am also an immigrant? Well, sort of:).

Thanks for the compliment! I somehow doubt that I will get far in politics. I lack at least two very necessary skills of being a good talker and I don't know how to suck up to the right people. Doubt that politics are much different from the rest of the world. But I still want to try to get a bit involved in one way or another. Just need to find the right starting point when the moving pain has moved out of my body:-)

Well, actually ...

If you wanted to run for the local lists (bydelsutvalg), Høire would probably leap at the chance to fill a spot, especially if you wanted to be active. It's often hard to find ppl for those councils. What part of the city (bydel) do you belong to?

First thing first

I live up on Løren and I am told that counts as Grunerløkka even though I find that a bit odd. But first thing first, I need to find out if Høyre is really the party for me before starting to have any dreams about running:-). It is an exciting thought though:-D.

Coward!

The right way to go is of course to run for a position, and once you have claimed it, begin doubting if your party is the right one. If you prefer to take a low-key approach, ask for aborting the task. If you rather are a brave girl, declare yourself a poltical wild ]:) and stay in the committee for the rest of the period, free to make whatever political decisions you want without having to go along with the party line!

Swedish tabloid Expressen examined the political parties by infiltrating them with young, female reporters this summer, right before the election. They had different success reaching into the interior secrets depending on which party it was, but some of the reading was quite fascinating, in particular in the light of all the political youth organisations who tried to frame eachother prior to the election. If it just takes to visit a party under false name and say "I want to work with/for you" and two weeks later you get the juicy details about how the campaign is run, who needs to hack a website to get the stuff? I think at least one of the women were asked to enroll on the list, at the very last minute before they had to be finalized.

Exciting stuff

You seem to have quite interesting politics in Sweden. A lot of action and drama:-). Almost a little bit like the US.

Thankfully, Norway still seems to be a bit more relaxed even though I am sure this will become like that here soon.

Can't figure out

And first now I noticed the heading on that comment. You are calling me a coward?!?. You are probably right:-).

So ...

Which political party? Out with it:)

Nah, you don't have to tell if you don't want to:) But I *am* curious;)

Muahaha

lt is so much fun making people curious]:).

Nothing t.oo exciting or shocking really (l think) just Høyre:-).

No surprise

Høyre is exactly what I would have guessed:)

A Tory

holy mierda shes a conservative :-(

Not that conservative, I think...

Tiram, pity I didn't have the competition I considered to see who could guess first which party I was:-). I was just too afraid too many people would guess some super weird party so I would start feeling bad... hehe vanity:-).

Scotsman, I wouldn't call Høyre a super conservative party even if it is the Norwegian conservative party. We have some Christian parties here in Norway which to me seem way more conservative.

Super weird

And she barely dare to say it ;-)

I think that eveyone who doesn't consider themselves super weird are voting Høgre. It is sort of the 'natural choice'. Don't be weird - just vote right.

Member of a norwegian political party. Huh. You are becoming «integrated». Off with the Icelandic burka and everything. Great! :-D

What is the equivalent of Høgre on Iceland? And do you have Kristeleg Folkeparti there also? Or are both the christian conservatives and the liberal conservatives ganged together in one party - so that you actually have to vote for Labour there, in order to save your politically correct ass?

Partiet Høire

I don't know that many members of Høyre, but my impression is that you could call it a liberal party as much as conservative. Especially if we're talking about economics, but there seems to be room for liberal values as well.

BTW, do you read VamPus? She's one of yours ;D

Adding to the backlog

I have seen the name once or twice but I guess I subscribe to the feed now:-). If I ever actually get through the backlog of feeds of all the blogs I subscribe to already:-(. I am so never, ever moving again!

Just ...

... Ctrl+Shift+A everything -- much easier that way:)

I am an Icelandic mediumgeek who lives in Oslo, Norway. I work at Opera Software making user interfaces for mobile browsers. I like reading and traveling most of all but there are many other things I like sticking my nose into. I have secret liking for getting upset about religious and political matters. Those are topics you are likely to find some entries about on my blog in between other things that happen to interest me then and there. Please note that the opinions here are my own and have nothing to do with my employer, family, or friends.
