Global Ignorance vs. Global Warming

If we just refuse that global warming exists will it go away?I know my blog is turning into a propaganda blog but I just cannot watch this happening without at least raising my blog voice.

The schools in Federal Way, Washington have put a restriction on showing Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth movie about global warming.

If the movie is to be shown, it now has to be approved specifically and "credible, legitimate opposing view needs to be presented". This is the result of a complaint made by a parent. The parent Frosty Hardison believes that the earth is 14 000 years old and since the Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up this cannot be true and hence shouldn't be shown in school. I don't think I have to mention that the same person pushes creationism and opposes sex education...

I guess this ultimately boils down to the film not being shown. I think it will be difficult to find any credible, legitimate opposing views unless someone reading from the Bible counts?

This is especially sad keeping in mind that scientists claim that 25% of the globe-warming gases is emitted by Americans (which are only about 5% percent of the world population). Again, religion is harmful and this time to our Mother Earth!

Extinctions

Hmm that Frosty guy has alot to explain :)

By the way, did you know that some scientists now lists the present day as one of the 7 biggest extincion events in the history of life on Earth. I just mentioned that in my latest blog post. I think global warming is a big threat and of course information about it should be spread, and especially to young people as they are the ones that has to deal with it. However if we can avoid destroying the environment this way there are many other dangers that might wipe us all out anyway, but we might feel good about it being because of some unexpected catastrophic event instead of our own fault.

Very interesting read

That post of yours was a very interesting read! I didn't know that we were considered that close to extinction. Yes, it probably wont be global warming that takes us out. I am actually predicting that it will be some maniacs with too many weapons of mass destructions and too many religious believes that manage to cause major damage. Or yes, the earth might get hit by something. It would be silly though to not try to behave better when it comes to mother earth. Who knows, we might get lucky and manage to avoid all other disasters:-).

Please note, I am not claiming to be any kind of saint when it comes to being nice to the planet. I intend to improve though...

Ignorant bastards!

Ignorant people will be the end of the human race.

We need to become smarter to survive

It is survival of the fittest that counts in this world. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like most of us are the fit mentally. Hence, I belive you are right, we will be the end of the human race if we don't smarten up soon!
