The Usability Politics

Working with usability is just like being in politics. If you try to make everyone happy you end up with something that nobody likes. If you try to work towards the greater good there will always be a group of people that would vote for someone else :) .

Useability corruption?

Do you end up being corrupted too? Cheating and lying, trying to save your own reputation? Are you giving promises you know you can't or won't fulfil? Are you catching up on other people's comments and ideas, pretending they're your own?

(Cynical? Who's cynical?)

Corruption? Oh yeah!

Probably! I would like to believe that I have managed to stay uncorrupted so far thanks to me only being partially a usability person. It might be going down the drain though. I am moving over to a fulltime usability position so who knows :D Muahahah

Gerður Jónsdóttir

I am an Icelandic mediumgeek who lives in Oslo, Norway. I work at Opera Software trying to make their products easier to use. I like reading and traveling most of all but there are many other things I like sticking my nose into. I have secret liking for getting upset about religious and political matters. Those are topics you are likely to find some entries about on my blog in between other things that happen to interest me then and there. Please note that the opinions here are my own and have nothing to do with my employer, family, or friends.
