On the "right" side

I am normally not a big fan of Berlusconi but this one time I think he might be onto something :D

Beauty and left + rigth

Well, you referred to my country so I feel as I have to give an answer.
Please note that this is based on my very personal opinion and that part of it is a bit superficial and based on some stereotypes.
First: there is a reason why women look better in the rigth "wing". They hired women not for the ideas but for the look: a significant number of them comes from the Show Bizz: pin up girls, show girls, even a "naked calendar" girl became a minister. She is not in the top most important position but she is there as part of government acting quite stupidly and having articles on foreigners magazines (german Bilder) as the "cutest ministress" (that sounded very sarcastic). You can see her "pictures" at

Why all those show people?
Well, they come from TV, so Berlusconi knows them and trust them (and more than that, manipulate them).
Then superficial people could find them funny, attractive or whatever and they think this a good reason enough to vote the specific party.

Then, in general, (at least in Italy) rigth parties tend to see women as an empty "beautifull box" that needs to look perfect all the time despite age. Often "perfect" means accordingly to "today" stereotype. To be able to fit it, many rigth wing women (especially in the italian parliment) had plastic surgery or whatever, to become perfect....
Ok, ok, I guess I pushed too mutch!
But maybe you can remember what Berlusconi said about the finnish (woman) president. He said that to reach his goal, he had to flirt with the woman as it was an extreme effort since she is not that beautiful.

Or rigth wing politician said that the only reason why there are not many women in politics is because they are too busy taking care of kids and so it must be....

Second, there are several women that are "left wing" (even if this term is really too strong in today's politic scenario) and they look just beautifull without needing any surgery plus I belive they'll get old with more wrinkles but more expressive eyes :P

He is just rich clown isn't he?

I know very little about Italian politics but I have always just considered Berlusconi as a clown. This wasn't really meant as a serious post but rather "haha, look how stupid he is yet again".

It amazes me that he get voted in every time though. Is it because he "pays" his way through or are the opponent just simply that bad?

I am a bit curious, how far to the right is Berlusconi compared to US politics for example? It always facinates me that what is considered left in the US is really far, far to the right in Norway.

He at least entertains us :)

Haha Carlsson, don't get too existed now ;) A quick peak at the right-winged people here in Norway didn't exactly make me think of the Top model show... maybe it is different in Sweden :)

I am just grateful that I can have a good laugh at Berlusconi expense once in a while. I am not sure it would be as funny if I was an Italian... then again.. it was them that voted him back in power...

Political career: A flash of flesh

Frankly, I haven't browsed through what politicians look like. A few years ago I went through British politicians though, trying to determine which one of the women in the parliament was most attractive. I think words such as radiant and charming are best used to describe their looks. Quite nobody had the reason to appear like a succubus on their profile photo.

Anyhow, it reminds me about the stirring (!) in Germany, when Angela Merkel recently visited some venue in a low-cut dress which showed some of her cleavage. It was a bit of shock for many people to see the Bundeskanzler partly display her breasts, and some chauvinist pig commented that he hadn't know that Angela was a woman before she wore the dress. *rolling eyes* Now she is in a such position she has nothing to fear by dressing attractively, but assume it had been a 23 year old woman on the way to make a career in the party. There is a major risk she would've been best remembered for the cleavage than her political work and ideas for the next 10 years.

Besides, didn't you take on a political career last year? Of course it would be too selfish of you to nominate yourself super model quality, or even the best looking in your party. ;-)

silly

He's such a clown.. I wish his opponent all the best - *please* beat this man, whatever your political views are..

On second thought...

... if the right wing women all look like this... *drool*

Partly nude woman

Too cute for politics?

I dunno.. politicians are not (should not) be elected to look pretty. That's what we have various Top Model, Miss World and Miss Wet T-shirt competitions for. Those women who have worked their way into the parliament might have taken the bed route along the journey, but rarely classify as drop-dead gorgeous anyway.

It makes me wonder if the other Italian politicians just like "Berly" focus more on looks than sound politicial decisions. If so, no wonder they need to have a re-election once every 18 months or so. ;-)
