Finger Friendly Browsing

Ever tried to browse on a phone with a touch screen and felt the urge to use a pencil sharpener on you finger to be able to click links? Or wanted to throw your phone out the window when you realized that you yet again managed to click the wrong link despite carefully aiming with that one nail that is a millimeter longer than the others? Opera has now introduced a feature called Opera
Fingertouch
that will take all your frustrations away.

In short, it grows links that you tap close to if there are multiple links nearby. You can then easily tap the link you wanted to open. It also makes form controls bigger and easier to interact with. So to sum up more user friendly browsing on touch devices.

But I might be a little biased so see for yourself :). If you have an UIQ phone you will find a beta version available for download. For the ones without a UIQ device there is a YouTube video you can take a look at.

Optimize Your Wake-Up

And here I was thinking the Finns were the most evil people on earth when it comes to letting you enjoy your precious hours of sleep.

That was until I came accross an article about "HappyWakeUp®" which is a mobile phone application that monitors your sleep cycles and rings the alarm when the user is naturally ready to wake up.

Pity I don't have a S60 phone any longer because I am dying to try this!

The Most Evil Phone Feature

The number award for the most evil phone features goes to Nokia's Series 60 Clock application.

When you go to bed way too late and set your alarm to wake up way to early the day after, it should be as painless as possible. You know it is only going to be few hours of sleep, but you can always fool yourself into thinking that maybe it isn't that bad. You can always round up a bit when carelessly calculating how much you will get to sleep.

Well until you see the following...

Pain, pain, pain!!

The worst thing is that you cannot turn this off. You are forced to being reminded how little sleep you will get:-(.

I am an Icelandic mediumgeek who lives in Oslo, Norway. I work at Opera Software making user interfaces for mobile browsers. I like reading and traveling most of all but there are many other things I like sticking my nose into. I have secret liking for getting upset about religious and political matters. Those are topics you are likely to find some entries about on my blog in between other things that happen to interest me then and there. Please note that the opinions here are my own and have nothing to do with my employer, family, or friends.
